Complex application of emotional intelligence and KANBAN method in IT-project management
Abstract
The purpose of the article is to present an approach to improve the usage of Kanban method with the help of principles of emotional intelligence. An analysis of critical situations that may arise during the implementation and application of the above-mentioned method is conducted. Based on this analysis, it is discovered that a significant part of the events that do not contribute to the positive development of the project are caused by the lack of understanding among the project team members. The communications themselves, among other factors, have one of the highest levels of influence on the project. Furthermore, the study of the effectiveness of the decisions to increase the level of emotional intelligence of the project team members in order to determine what the outcome of such actions should be will continue. This process is proposed to be conducted in the form of both regular and infrequent group activities, which, in turn, should lead to the increase in team productivity. This method can create positive psychological effect. The flexibility of the method is the reason of choice of Kanban as a base of this research. This feature provides opportunities for self-improvement of each project team member. The improvement of the level of emotional intelligence is chosen as a basis of selfimprovement. The research is based on scientific articles on emotional intelligence, project management and Kanban method. Theoretical part of this research is affirmed by examples which describe common occurrences in project management. The prеdiction of potentional results of those situations is also added. In conclusion the reasons of effectiveness of the combination of Kanban method with emotional intelligence skills is described
