Fuel economy calculation for cars with different power plants
Abstract
Introduction. The car of the XXI century should be environmentally safe. State programs on the development of ecological, resource saving and efficient transport are being implemented in all developed countries. Fuel efficiency and environmental safety of motor vehicles become a key problem of the development of modern motor industry. In modern motor vehicles environmental and economic efficiency is introduced by the use of electric drive. Such vehicles include electric vehicles and hybrid cars. In this regard, the analysis and calculation of fuel economy for cars with different electric power plants are relevant for different countries. The purpose of the study, statement of the problem. This work aims at the increase of efficiency of the use of electric vehicles by determining the costs of their energy resources in Ukraine. The task of the study is to calculate fuel economy of cars with various power plants, such as: a vehicle with combustion engine (Skoda Superb), hybrid car (Honda Accord) and electric car (Tesla Model S). Presentation of the basic material. The creation of environmentally safe vehicles is one of the most promising areas of modern motor industry. The introduction of environmentally safe technologies on motor vehicles will improve their fuel efficiency and reduce the emission of harmful substances into the atmosphere. Results. The design of passenger cars with different power plants is examined. Fuel economy of Skoda Superb, Honda Accord and Tesla Model S is analyzed. A comparative calculation of equivalent cost of energy for different types of cars is made. Insights. It is established that electric cars are much more economically advantageous to operate than hybrid ones and cars with combustion engine
